Employment Discrimination
New York Labor Laws and the Federal Civil Rights Act protect employees in New York State against various types of discrimination. These laws are enforced by the New York State Division of Human Rights, New York City Commission on Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The laws provide protection from discrimination based on:
age
disability
gender
marital status
pregnancy
race
religion
sex
sexual orientation
We can help you understand these laws when your rights have been violated. When you have been discriminated against at work, we will help you understand your options. When there is a dispute, we will help you get it resolved. To protect your rights we will negotiate with your (ex-)employer. If that is not satisfactory we will file a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC,) the New York State Division of Human Rights (NYSDHR,) the New York City Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR,) and/or file a complaint in Federal or State Court. Our goal is to resolve your dispute in the most favorable and efficient way for you.
